This is a short video that I put together using only photos and videos that I shot through my Google Glass. If you’re not sure what Google Glass, is take a look here. I’ll be making more of these short videos in the near future. Until then, PURA VIDA!
The following video compilation is from our most recent trip to Costa Rica (June 2014) when the rest of my family came to Las Villas de San Buenas. My kids absolutely love it here in Costa Rica. The highlights always include daily dips in the swimming pool, running and playing in the Pacific Ocean at Playa Ventanas and going horseback riding on the property.

The big news the last week has been Costa Rica’s incredibly successful run in the World Cup. For those that follow futbol (soccer) here’s a nice recap.
Las Villas de San Buenas has several phases of development. In our Residential Lots (Phase I) we have approximately 130 lots in addition to nine parks and green spaces. Some of the parks are designated for children and will have playground equipment. These parks are private and only can be used by residents of Las Villas de San Buenas.
This area of the development is managed under condominium law, which means it is a gated community and will have sidewalks and walking trails throughout. It is a great real estate option for those looking to live full time in Costa Rica as well as for those who simply want a home in a safe, fun and incredibly beautiful country.

Costa Rica is home to hundreds of fruits, and in particular, the Osa Peninsula’s weather patterns provides the perfect environment for growing mamones chinos. I love mamones chinos as much as guanabana’s. The main advantage of mamones chinos versus guanabana is the ease of eating.
What is a ‘mamon chino‘?
A mamon chino is a fruit that grows on trees (most fruits do grow on trees but a few don’t) and is harvested once a year. To eat one, you simply pluck it off the tree, rip the skin of with your teeth, which will generally open in two or three large pieces, then eat the sweet, white fruit. There is an almond-like seed in the middle of each fruit, so you have to eat and suck off the fruit from the seed. Once you are finished eating the fruit you spit out the seed.
Eating mamones chinos will definitely get your hands sticky and they are a bit messy to eat as the easiest way to eat them is with your hands and utensils will not help.
The name of the fruit tells you a lot about the food. mamon is from the word mamar, meaning ‘to suck’. Chino comes from “China”. Therefore, the ‘mamon chino’ is the Chinese sucking fruit.
We’ve planted several in Las Villas de San Buenas, and just this last weekend one of our customers requested that we plant a couple
near his home. It takes a couple of years after planting for it to start producing fruit.

Visiting the Osa region between Palmar Norte and Coronado (which includes San Buenaventura) just got smoother. Already considered one of the best roads in all of Costa Rica, Highway 34 (or as it is better known, “The Costanera Highway”) has been repaved with another layer of asphalt over the past ten days. Unlike many roads in Costa Rica, especially those in Guanacaste, the roads leading to San Buenaventura are perfectly smooth and provide easy driving for everyone.
Now that the asphalt has been put down, the paint and reflectors in the road will be applied over the next month.
They repaved and smoothed out the entrance into San Buenaventura as well. We are located 2 km (a little over a mile) from the Costanera highway (Highway 34) providing easy access all year!
As always, we recommend flying into Palmar Sur regional airport and then driving to Las Villas de San Buenas. It is now easier than ever!
The Hospital de Osa is located near the town of Puerto Cortes in Ojo De Agua. It is about 5 to 6 minutes from Las Villas De San Buenas depending on how you drive. The hospital is 80,000 square feet and there is room to grow further. The aerial photo below will give you a good idea of the size of the facility. It’s comforting to know that we have emergency care close by and fortunate it is a new hospital only minutes away. Living in Costa Rica rural areas has its challenges for many developments including proximity to hospitals, doctors, dentists, auto care, etc.. When buying land or a home in Costa Rica it makes sense to be close to infrastructure and in the path of development if you are looking for appreciation from your investment. You can still have the safety and security you desire along with all the abundance of nature.
We offer beautiful, custom, Costa Rica home designs for all of our owners. Additionally, our architect will work with you to ensure that the house you want, on the lot you want, fits both your requests perfectly, but also fits the lot perfectly. Customers may choose from one of our existing home designs to begin construction almost immediately. More information here
Turn Key Process
For each custom home design, we will work with you to ensure that your home in paradise is exactly what you are looking for. All floor plans and 3D models will be tailored to your needs. Once you have agreed to your design, the construction process will start.
Typically, once a design is selected it takes approximately six months to build. We handle all permits, insurance and purchasing. We provide our owners with photo updates twice-per-week.
