Mr. Halverson (Nick’s father) grew up on an 80 acre farm in a tiny farming community in Vincent, IA (pop 75). He is currently “retired”, however, in his retirement he:

  • Started and owns D. Halverson & Associates management consulting firm. He works with CEO’s of the largest agri-business coops in the United States providing strategic planning and senior management advice.
  • Was selected and joined the Board of Iowa State University Alumni Association
  • Was selected and became a board member of SAVE, the largest suicide prevention organization in the United States

Prior to retirement Duane Halverson was Chief Operating Officer, Land O’Lakes, Inc. where he managed all day-to-day operations of the $12 billion cooperative, including its famous butter and agricultural feeds and seeds, throughout the world. He was a part of the Senior Management team at Land O’Lakes for over 25 years. During his tenure he launched Land O’Lakes seed division, launched new consumer products and traveled to, and met with dignitaries from Russia (three weeks after the fall of communism), Poland, China, Taiwan and Switzerland.

He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in economics, and received a Distinguished Alumni award, from Iowa State University (Ames, Iowa, USA).
